This film has a duration of 80 minutes and is made in Argentina. It premiered on April 23, 2002.
"Spas" is an extravagant and laughing encyclopedia of customs and histories of the spas of Argentina. Submerged cities, bathhouses, hotels of the beginning of the century, sirens, boatmen, dykes, municipal spas, marine animals and sand castles, are in a varied and bewildering essay. The idea of cities dedicated solely to leisure, water and rest, uninhabited in winter and crowded in summer, plagued with ornaments and marine names, is fascinating.
The film has two key episodes:
The "beach episode" deals with all the clichés and possible situations that must be faced each time you go to a beach resort. The voice-over, ironic, safe and graceful lists and details precisely: sunbathing, children, dance groups, naps, "useful" beach, sea and people, the center of the A seaside resort that works (and this is verifiable in any city / town) as if it were a Moebius tape, tourist routine and other types of human attitudes.
The second episode, the "Zucco episode", portrays the moment when the film forgets the beach and enters the interior of the province, in spas constructed with cement. Then, the story finds Zucco, an extravagant villager comparable to Nestor Frenkel's "Jorge Mario" in "Amateur."
A great find the provincial character who gives a return to the film: everything he will say,
even though he is not saying anything, will be entangled.
In my opinion, this film/documental, it is very interesting film which with which you can learn
a lot about hot springs and how they can be maintained and used by humans. It is very
simple to see it and understand because they use a good vocabulary and it is easy to
undertand it.
